I talk a lot about growth mindset in my classroom. The way someone thinks and sets out to achieve a task really impacts whether they will be successful or not. Being able to persevere and push through a tough problem is a great skill to learn. We are very hands on in the classroom, I try to get the class up and moving whenever possible. I provide them with opportunities to grow and learn from experiences as well as their peers in the learning process. There will be moments where they think it is too hard. It is in these moments they learn new strategies to approach a problem or to simply ask their peers for input.
In our classroom it's okay to make mistakes because we are all learning and sometimes it's in those mistakes we learn the most. I really encourage the students to work together and build relationships together. We are a team and to show that we collaborate, encourage, and support one another.
